As Lieutenant Governor, Lucas Crisp serves as President of the Senate within the North Carolina Student Legislature, where he presides over Senate proceedings during Annual Session and helps ensure that debate follows proper parliamentary procedure. In addition, the Lieutenant Governor is responsible for chairing the Session Committee and overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of Annual Session; the largest legislative event of the year. Should the Governor become unable to fulfill their duties, the Lieutenant Governor steps in to ensure continuity and stability in NCSL’s leadership.
Lucas is from Gastonia, North Carolina, and is currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he is double majoring in Political Science and Communications. Passionate about accessibility and engagement, Lucas is committed to giving delegates the best Annual Session experience possible and ensuring that every delegate feels empowered to speak and be heard.
Outside of NCSL, Lucas has been actively involved in civic engagement, including work with the North Carolina Democratic Coordinated Campaign and Young Stein Supporters, reflecting his dedication to political activism and youth involvement in state affairs.
